JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a Senior UX Engineer with a strong foundation in user experience design principles and visual design systems. This role will contribute to the development of new and enhanced software products by applying UX best practices, leading key design initiatives, and collaborating across cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate has deep Figma expertise, including design systems, components, tokens, and scalable design language systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design intuitive, user-friendly interfaces aligned with established standards and guidelines including Baxter design patterns, W3C, Google Material Design, Apple Human Interface Guidelines, and Android Design Guidelines
- Participate in user research activities such as customer interviews and usability studies to understand user needs
- Create high-fidelity UI prototypes for usability testing and stakeholder demonstrations
- Plan and support usability testing, including writing test plans, moderating sessions, and documenting findings
- Develop and maintain UX documentation and design specifications
- Provide UX recommendations to cross-functional teams to improve product usability and workflow
- Work independently while collaborating closely with product, engineering, and other stakeholders
- Use engineering project tools and methodologies to track and communicate work progress
Required Qualifications
- Strong understanding of UX design principles and methodologies
- Advanced experience with Figma (components, variables, auto-layout, themes, and design systems)
- Experience contributing to or maintaining a Design Language System (DLS)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain and document design decisions
- Proven ability to collaborate within cross-functional product teams
- Ability to balance independent work with strong team communication
- Willingness and ability to travel to Baxter or customer sites and meet hospital credentialing requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on medical devices or within other regulated industries
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors, UX Design, HCI, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of relevant UX design experience
